2007 Hancock County - Doug Adams

Doug AdamsAs a youth, Doug Adams was a member of the Liscomb Lively Laborers 4-H club for nine years. During this time he served as President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer. He was on the club livestock judging team, the Marshall County Livestock Judging Team, Marshall County Teen Council, and he showed sheep and calves at both County Fair and State Fair.

Doug served as a 4-H club leader, a record book judge, sheep project leader, sheep superintendent at the county fair, and traveled to various county fairs across the state to judge sheep shows from 1993 until his death in 2006. Doug also assisted many 4-H members with lamb projects who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to work in that project area.

Doug Adams touched the lives of hundreds of youth with an enthusiasm for
4-H that is unmatched in Hancock County. He was a dedicated, compassionate individual who was willing to lend a helping hand, teach new skills and offer words of encouragement to anyone in the 4-H program. He personified the 4-H motto “to make the best better”.
