Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Inductees

Don and Helen Perkins have been strong leaders and supporters of the 4-H program in Howard County. Loyalty to Extension was also evident.

Don had a love for horses and turned that into a 4-H Flying Hoofs Horse Club.

Helen enjoyed working with 4-H leaders and youth.  Helen was an active 4-H member in a Northern Minnesota club and Helen a Home Economist in Howard & Winneshiek counties. An excellent teacher she taught food & nutrition, Home furnishings and sewing and quilting skills to the 4-H leaders.  Each year she assisted at the 4-H camps and even went tubing with the members in the upper Iowa River. 

Don and Helen's five children were in 4-H.  Their contribution has impacted and inspired our program today and they will long be remembered for “Making the best . . . better!”
