2006 O'Brien County - Daniel Hunt

Daniel HuntDan has always worked hard to make the O’Brien county 4-H program a strong one.  He believes in making 4-H a learning experience and always encourages the members to participate in many activities. Without leaders like this involved in 4-H, we would not have the successful program that we do, here in O’Brien county.

Daniel Hunt became the 4-H leader of the Caledonia Ramblers of O'Brien County in 1975 when the first of his five children began the 4-H program.  He also became the beef superintendent of the O'Brien County Fair, and has developed not only the Beef Show, but also the Advance Cattle Feeding program into what past beef judges consider one of the largest and finest in the state.  Dan has always had the philosophy that the 4-H program teaches our youth to be responsible, productive citizens, which can only be accomplished with support from committed volunteers, leaders, and parents.

Even though Dan and Faye's children have long since graduated from 4-H, 31 years of dedicated service later, Dan can still be found leading the Caledonia Ramblers, which has had as many as 75 members, and which now includes several of his grandchildren.

Daniel Hunt and his  wife  Faye  have five children:  Steve, Chris, David, Kenny and Susie.  Eight of their grandchildren are current O’Brien county 4-H members, with three being 4-H alumni of O’Brien County.
