2005 Buena Vista County - Myron Sievers

Myron SieversMyron Sievers was ten years old when he became an 8 year member of the Grant Beavers 4-H Club, which at that time was the largest club in the county.  For the next 46 years, Myron would be involved as a 4-H’er, a 4-H parent, 4-H Leader, 4-H grandparent, Beef Superintendent, and an announcer at the 4-H Jr. Feeder Beef show at the county fair.

Myron is known for his calm and willing to help out personality as well as his knowledge in the cattle industry.  He has been a valuable asset to the 4-H program in B.V.  County, not only as a  youth, but as an adult.  During his years as a 4-H Beef Superintendent, Myron helped establish the Special Beef and Bottle Bucket calf projects in the county and with the support of adding a new beef barn at the Buena Vista County Fairgrounds as well as much needed new gates.

For a number of years Myron has taken the leadership role of finding a fair price and place to market the 4-H beef projects for the 4-H’ers.  This has also included transporting the 4-H beef projects to the sale barn or processing plant after the fair.

Myron’s philosophy of why youth should be involved in 4-H starts with the number one reason – to have fun, number two – learn responsibility, number three – meeting other people, number four – making money, number five – never buy a trophy, number six – record keeping skills, and most of all number seven – share the love of cattle.

Thank you Myron for the dedication and support you’ve provided to the 4-H program in Buena Vista County.  Your commitment and devotion is greatly appreciated.
