Douglas Schroeder has been participating in or volunteering for the Cedar County 4-H Program most of his life. He was a member of the Harmony Hustlers 4-H Club in the 1970s and was very active in the beef project area. Doug and his wife, Glenda, live in Cedar County, where they own and operate Schroeder Angus. He is a father of three and a grandfather of six.

Doug has been a 4-H volunteer in several different capacities over the years. For eight years, Doug was an assistant leader of the Harmony Hustlers 4-H Club. He has been a member of the Cedar County Youth Committee, and he has recently become one of Cedar County’s beef superintendents.  He is also an active member of the Cedar County Fair Board.

As a member of the Cedar County Cattlemen’s Association, Doug has volunteered his time at market beef weigh-ins, fair check-ins, and announcing the 4-H/FFA beef shows. He always makes the fair an enjoyable experience for Cedar County youth.

Doug is most passionate about working with youth in the beef project area. He is very knowledgeable in the beef industry and has worked with youth in many aspects. He was an advisor for the Iowa Junior Angus Association for 13 years and a Junior Advisor for the National Junior Angus Board for 3 years. He has served on the American Angus Association Board of Directors and was the chairperson for Junior Activities and Certified Angus Beef.  Doug and Glenda have also been the chairperson for three National Junior Angus Shows. Their family has shown in 20 different states throughout the country and have shown and sold breeding stock in 10 different states. Doug has also judged county, regional, and national shows.

Doug goes out of his way to get more youth involved in the beef project area. He takes an interest in all youth passionate about the beef project area, not just   4-H youth. He is always willing to lend a helping hand and teach others.  Doug truly enjoys spending time with the youth in Cedar County and always has their best interests at heart.  He promotes the 4-H program in the community and helps instill valuable life lessons in our youth.  He is a very reliable volunteer and is truly an asset to the Cedar County 4-H program.
