Eugene and Karen Jones – Greiner have been involved in the 4-H program for years. Eugene was a 4-H member in Keokuk County and Karen belonged to a 4-H club in Washington County. Keokuk County Fair in What Cheer was a favorite place to show steers for Eugene. Karen was very active in Washington County and after graduation from high school become a 4-H leader. After marriage and moving to Keokuk County she become a leader of the Harper Hustlers 4-H club. At nine years of age their daughters Brianna Greiner – Howard and Kayla Greiner joined the club and were very active 4-H members exhibiting projects at the Keokuk County EXPO, Iowa State Fair and junior shows across Iowa. Eugene & Karen Greiner

Eugene and Karen were active members of the Keokuk County Pork Producers and Washington County Cattleman’s grilling many pork burger, hamburger, and ribeye steak sandwiches. They volunteered to grill at University of Iowa football games for WMT and Iowa State Fair pork tent and cattleman quarters.

Karen was an Expo board member and managed the food stands while Eugene enjoyed being the beef superintendent at the Keokuk County Expo. Eugene was also a member of the Keokuk County Extension board holding several offices, several years ago. Eugene and Karen decided it was time for a change and passed duties to other volunteers so they could spend more time with the grandchildren. Judging at fair keeps Karen busy when fairs begin. She does enjoy conference judging.

Karen has always enjoyed Clover Kids, it was a good time to become a superintendent of the Clover Kids. She has always wanted the Clover Kids to have a good experience as this is where their 4-H career starts “to make the best better”.
