2004 Black Hawk County - AuRae Heidemann

2004 Black Hawk County - AuRae HeidemannAuRae is always eager to learn and rarely misses an opportunity to volunteer.  When her oldest child joined 4-H, she said she “never dreamed that 4-H had so much to offer.”

All of AuRae’s 6 children were 4-H members, as well as 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.  AuRae was a 25 year Leader of the Mt. Vernon Pals 4-H Club, served 26 years on the Black Hawk County 4-H & Youth Committee, and was a Black Hawk County 4-H and FFA Fairboard Member, and Visual Arts Superintendent for 18 years.  In addition, AuRae was an instructor for county project workshops and a fair judge for 22 years.

AuRae has helped plan 15 of the Iowa State Leaders’ Retreat as well the two North Central Region Volunteer Forums that Iowa has hosted.  AuRae values the networking and learning that occurs at the Regional Forum and has attended 24 of the 27 annual forums.

AuRae and her late husband farmed for 36 years.  She has driven a school bus for 30 years – evidence of a real love for children!

Black Hawk County is honored to induct AuRae Heidemann into the 4-H Hall of Fame.
