2004 Delaware County - Frances Shover-Wilson

2004 Deleware County - Frances Shover-WilsonFrances Shover-Wilson is a 4-H pioneer. She was active on Township Booster Couples in Delaware County – serving several terms to get 4-H more visible in the community. Frances hosted numerous 4-H meetings and many dairy judging workouts for 4-H and FFA. She encouraged her 4 children to be active in 4-H and helped them with their local and county presentations.  When a new club started in the township, she worked with them in the county 4-H food stand since they had just a few members. She donated to the 4-H Food Stand building fundraiser and was involved in the “4 for $400” to the state.  Frances was host mom for 2 interstate exchanges. She, along with her family farm corporation, dedicated $1000 to the State 4-H Foundation for dairy trips.  After her husband died in 1986, she helped to set up a county scholarship that would benefit a local 4-H’er each year.  She received Delaware County Honorary 4-H member award.

Frances has been a strong promoter for 4-H for years. She often finished chores when her husband, a 4-H leader, had to leave for meetings. She encouraged her children to continue their 4-H involvement- all 4 have been 4-H leaders.  The legacy continues- her 8 grandchildren and now the oldest 3 great grandchildren, have been and are very active in 4-H. She has been a great example to many young and old by her involvement and dedication to the 4-H program in Delaware County.
