2016 Jasper County Clarence Brand

Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Inductees

2016 Jasper County Clarence Brand

In 1962, Clarence Brand began serving as leader and assistant leader for the Lynn-Grove Hustlers 4-H Club.  During his time as leader, Clarence organized the monthly meetings, helped the club make new signs to hang at the Jasper County Fair and the Iowa State Fair, set up the club tour and special events schedules.

Clarence’s love for agriculture started at an early age.  He loved being around livestock, especially cattle.  He had a special passion for raising cattle on his farm North of Sully, so it was only natural for his children to show cattle in 4-H at the county and state fair.  After retiring from leadership, he helped his grandchildren and local youth with their 4-H projects.  He rarely missed the Jasper County and Iowa State Fair and he enjoyed traveling to other county fairs to check out the cattle being shown.

Clarence and his wife Vera retired from farming in 2010 due to health reasons and in 2011, Clarence passed away.  His work ethic, leadership, and service to others, along with his love for 4-H will be passed on for generations.
