2016 Floyd County Jane Larson

Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Inductees

2016 Floyd County Jane Larson

Jane Larson of rural Nora Springs, Iowa has been living the 4-H motto of “Making the Best Better” as a 4-H member and volunteer in Floyd County for nearly 50 years. Jane joined the Rockford Clever Cloverettes 4-H club as a 5th grader in 1968. While she didn’t grow up on a farm, she credits her ability to speak in front of crowds to her participation in 4-H. She exhibited projects at the local and state level in home improvement, food and nutrition and clothing, but her favorite project area was communications.

Jane learned the value of 4-H leadership and service opportunities early on as a 4-Her. From campaigning at the fair for a seat on the County 4-H Council to traveling to Washington DC for the 4-H Citizenship trip in high school. Some of her favorite service projects were when her club sold poppies door-to-door to support veterans, and helped place flags at the cemetery.

Fast forward 30 years and Jane’s role in Floyd County 4-H continues as volunteer. For 12 years she helped both of her children find success in 4-H programs. She served on the County Advisory Committee for six years helping coordinate volunteers, judging record books, working at the fair food stand and auction breakfast. Today she continues to volunteer at the fair each year helping facilitate exhibit judging awards distribution.

We’re proud to induct Jane Larson into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame for her lifetime of service “Making the Best Better” for 4-Hers in Floyd County.
