Esther Klingebiel McKee was Home Demonstration Agent/Extension Home Economist in Woodbury County from 1939 to 1968. For many, she was the standard by which all Extension personnel were measured.
Esther was a graduate of ISU and received awards on both the state and national level for her work with 4-H clubs and rural men and women. She was selected as outstanding Home Economist in Iowa in 1947 and was the first woman in Iowa to received the Key Award for Alumni work. She was a charter Trustee of the Iowa 4-H foundation. Many of the 4-H clubs in Woodbury County were organized under her guidance.
