2002 Iowa County - Marilyn Miller

Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Inductees

2002 Iowa County - Marilyn Miller

2002 Iowa County - Marilyn MillerMarilyn Miller was a member of the Honey Creek Honeys 4-H Club.  Nearing her high school graduation, Marilyn was offered the position as secretary in the Iowa County ISU Extension office.  After a couple of year’s service, Marilyn married and left Extension employment.

Marilyn was a leader of the Hilton Willing Workers 4-H Club for over 5 years.  Around 1970, Marilyn returned to Extension employment as Office Assistant, finally “retiring” as a full time worker in December 1993.  Before leaving, Marilyn organized and set up procedures for office staff to follow to ensure that 4-H events happened correctly.  Having these files averted many mistakes and miscues.

Marilyn is the chair of the Iowa County 4-H Foundation and has recently led a successful cookbook fundraiser.  She currently is communications Superintendent for the Iowa County Fair.

Marilyn is considered the #1 4-H volunteer in Iowa County.  Even though she is “retired”, very few 4-H events go by without assistance from Marilyn.  When 4-H leaders were asked who should be nominated for the Hall of Fame honor, Marilyn was the #1 name given.  There is no way Iowa County can repay Marilyn for the care, concern and time she has so freely given to Iowa County 4-H since she became involved.  She has brought joy to so many people by her support of 4-H.  It is widely thought that Marilyn would bleed green clovers if scratched.
