2002 Crawford County - Walter Grell

2002 Crawford County - Walter GrellWalter Grell was well known for his leadership and support of the 4-H program and his numerous volunteer contributions to local and county projects.  Walter organized the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club and was a 4-H leader of that club for 10 years.  He served as 4-H hog superintendent and 4-H youth committee member for 8 years.

Walter was committed to the Crawford County Fair and the 4-H youth program for 26 years.  Walter was a member of the fair board and served as president and vice-president. Some of the fair projects he was involved in were building a new poultry building, a new sheep barn, enclosing the grandstand, and creating a new horse arena.

Walt and his wife, Wiladene, headed a dedicated 4-H family.  Both were 4-H leaders and all four children were in 4-H.
Walter spent 48 years of his life dedicated to the 4-H program.  Hundreds of children in Crawford County have grown up knowing Walt.  He was a friend to the youth, other 4-H leaders, 4-H parents and fair goers.  Walt loved giving joy to others and promoting the important educational experience 4-H had to offer.  Walt helped to make his community a better place to live.
