The Iowa 4-H Foundation has announced applications are now available for its 4-H scholarship program. Approximately 90 scholarship opportunities valued at over $100,000 will be awarded.
Last week, the Iowa FFA Foundation and Iowa 4-H Foundation received matching donations of $90,000 each from Dakota Access Pipeline, LLC. The funds will be used to benefit local youth along the pipeline route, as well as students across the state through conference sponsorships and curriculum support. The foundations hosted a joint check presentation Thursday, October 19, at the FFA Enrichment Center.
The Successful Farming/Loren Kruse Outstanding Iowa 4-H Leader award is presented each year to an adult volunteer who has encouraged, challenged, and inspired Iowa 4-H members to achieve at their fullest potential. This year’s recipient is Shirley Helmrichs of Manchester. Helmrichs is the current 4-H Leader of the Milo Livestock 4-H Club and has been for over 37 years.
The Iowa 4-H Foundation has announced that Emily Saveraid has been named Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation, effective July 1, 2017. Saveraid has been with the Foundation since 2015 serving as the director of development.
The commitment of Iowa 4-H’ers to the Iowa 4-H Program is what keeps 4-H thriving across the state. Through the dedication of these 4-H’ers, the Iowa 4-H Foundation was presented a check at the State 4-H Youth Conference, for $26,743.10 from the 4-H’ers for 4-H campaign. This campaign is run by members of the State 4-H Council Finance Committee and is an opportunity for current 4-H’ers to invest in their program.
The Iowa 4-H Foundation has announced the recipients of over 70 Iowa 4-H college scholarships valued at over $100,000. Recipients will accept their awards on Sunday, June 4 at the Foundation’s Scholarship Reception held in the Scheman Building at Iowa State University. Over 500 applications were submitted. Award recipients hail from 48 counties across the state of Iowa with a wide variety of 4-H experiences.

After nearly seventy years, Iowa 4-H Center opens a new chapter. Owned by the Iowa 4-H Foundation, the Iowa 4-H Center will now be called Clover Woods Camp & Retreat Center. United Camps, Conferences and Retreats, a non-profit, camp management organization, will manage Clover Woods.
The Iowa 4-H Foundation has announced that Albert Grunenwald has resigned his position as Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation effective April 7, 2017 after nearly 22 years of service. Grunenwald departs for a position with Cedarville University near Dayton, OH.
Iowa 4-H supporters gathered on February 28 to celebrate and honor four 4-H supporters at the 2017 4-H Legacy Awards Gala. At the end of the evening, over $113,000 was raised to support Iowa 4-H.
The Iowa 4-H Foundation announces the honorees to be recognized at the 2017 Iowa 4-H Legacy Awards Gala which celebrates the impact of Iowa 4-H and recognizes those who have make an important impact on the program. Slated for 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 24 at the State Historical Building, in Des Moines, this signature fundraising event will showcase Iowa 4-H and raise funds to support the Program. Presenting sponsors of the event are Iowa Farm Bureau and Nationwide.
