Dr. Chuck Morris to Retire

Dr. Chuck Morris will be retiring as director of 4-H Youth Development with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach effective January 2, 2013. Chuck’s enthusiasm for building skills in young people has been evident in his 37 years of service to the Iowa 4-H program. He has served 4-H in almost every role possible, from county 4-H educator to camp counselor to state specialist, serving as director of the 4-H program since June 2004. Previously he served as interim director of the program, as well as associate director, associate state leader, assistant state leader, and 4-H and youth leader for Clay and Buena Vista counties. Chuck also has been an assistant professor with tenure in Agricultural Education and Studies in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences since 1982.

Betsy Pearson to Serve on Iowa 4-H Foundation Board

AMES, IOWA- Betsy Pearson, special projects analyst at EDJE Technologies, was welcomed to the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees at their annual meeting on September 21, 2012 held at Pioneer in Johnston, Iowa.

Pearson obtained a Bachelor’s of Science and worked with young Iowa agriculturalists as a State FFA officer. In 2011, she left Iowa State and moved to Des Moines where she went to work for RAYGUN. After two years she returned to her agricultural roots at EDJE Technologies where she currently serves as a special projects analyst.

Kate Olson to Serve on Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees

AMES, IOWA- Kate Olson, county extension program coordinator in Cass County, was welcomed to the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees at their annual meeting on September 21, 2012 held at Pioneer in Johnston, Iowa.

Olson is a graduate of Iowa State University in animal science. She has a background working in private industry with livestock productions, communications and training, and was a 9-year Cass County 4-H member. Kate, along with her husband Jon and two young children, lives on a farm north of Atlantic.

Joe Swanson to Serve on Iowa 4-H Foundation Board

AMES, IOWA- Joe Swanson, director of continuous improvement for West Liberty Foods LLC., was welcomed to the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees at their annual meeting on September 21, 2012 held at Pioneer in Johnston, Iowa.

Swanson is a nine-year 4-H member of the Lincoln Leaders 4-H Club in Wright County and has three children who are active I the Lake Prairie 4-H Club in Marion County.

Rob Rudolphi to Serve on Iowa 4-H Foundation Board

AMES, IOWA- Rob Rudolphi, pork business consultant with Cargill, was welcomed to the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees at their annual meeting on September 21, 2012 held at Pioneer in Johnston, Iowa.

Rudolphi resides in North Liberty with his wife Tara. He is a native of Williamsburg in Iowa County.

Tyler Pickhinke to Serve on Iowa 4-H Foundation Board

AMES, IOWA- Tyler Pickhinke, junior at Ridge View High School, was welcomed to the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees at their annual meeting on September 21, 2012 held at Pioneer in Johnston, Iowa. Pickhinke is serving as the youth trustee, representing the Iowa 4-H State Council.

 
Pickhinke is a junior at Ridge View High School in Holstein where he is involved on Student Council, Honor Roll, and an active band member. He is a member for the 4-H State Council, past Technology Team, attended the State Conference and is active in the Early Achievers 4-H Club.

Sue Peyton to Serve on Iowa 4-H Foundation Board

AMES, Iowa- Sue Peyton, farm business manager of Peyton Inc., was welcomed to the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees at their annual meeting on September 21, 2012 held at Pioneer in Johnston, Iowa.

Peyton holds bachelor’s of science in home economics education, a master’s of science in educational psychology from Oklahoma State University, and a Ph.D. in higher education from Iowa State University. She resides in Sac City with her husband Harold. They have two grown children that were very active in 4-H and both attended Iowa State University.

Iowa 4-H Foundation Welcomes New Board Members

AMES, Iowa- The Iowa 4-H Foundation approved and welcomed six new trustees at their annual meeting on September 21 held at Pioneer in Johnston, Iowa.

The new trustees are: Kate Olson, Atlantic; Betsy Pearson, Des Moines; Sue Peyton, Sac City; Tyler Pickhinke, Early; Rob Rudolphi, North Liberty; Joe Swanson, North Liberty.
