Betty Troendle was selected for her outstanding service and dedication to the Allamakee County 4-H Program.
Betty became a 4-H’er in 1955 as a member of the Sunny Sals 4-H Club in Waterville, Iowa. A year later, the large club split into four smaller clubs with Betty continuing with the 4-H Toppers. Betty served as a 4-H mother and assisted her husband, Tom, who was a leader for the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club as well as an active fair board member in the late 70’s, early 80’s.
As an assistant, she organized meetings, worked behind the scenes, and offered a helping hand whenever needed. When Betty’s daughter was active in 4-H, she became club leader for the 4-H Toppers until the mid-90’s. She served on the Youth Development Committee for many years and as a food & nutrition judge from 1996-2004. Today, Betty continues to volunteer whenever an extra hand is needed.
Betty taught her children well and influenced them to give back to their communities, consequently, three of her children served as
4-H leaders. Her hard work, heart of gold, and willingness to always help out has influenced many youth throughout her 4-H career in Allamakee County.
Betty Troendle’s service to the 4-H program emphasizes the mission of the 4-H Hall of Fame. Betty has touched many lives through her dedication, encouragement, commitment and guidance to the Allamakee County 4-H program.
