Iowa 4-H'ers Are 'Keeping It Green' for National 4-H Week

Iowa 4-H’ers and 4-H youth from across the nation will be “Keeping It Green” as they celebrate 2008 National 4-H Week Oct. 5-11. They will be raising awareness about environmental issues and initiating environmental projects that make a positive difference in their communities.

Iowa 4-H’ers have had a long-term commitment to protecting the environment. Many of their projects at the 2008 Iowa State Fair urged consumers to make an effort to reduce, reuse and recycle to save the planet. More...


Operation: Military Kids Receives Gift from Veterans Team

The Iowa Workforce Development Region 11 Veterans Team was honored to receive a monetary award from the U.S. Department of Labor for its service to Iowa veterans. However, the team had a small problem: what could it do with the $3,880?

“Since we are a state agency and can’t accept money for our service, we decided to give the money away to worthwhile veteran concerns within the state of Iowa,” said Ted Hall, veteran employment representative with Iowa Workforce Development. More...

Rising Photographer's Passion Born of 4-H Projects
Her cousins showed dogs and rabbits. She had neither, so entered the
4-H visual arts and photography divisions in fourth grade, and discovered a passion and talent for photography that has won her numerous awards and helped to steer her future goals more than 10 years later. More...
